FC Bayern will face Mainz away from home in the second round of the 2024/25 DFB Cup following Sunday’s draw at the German Football Museum in Dortmund.
Fourth cup meeting
Bayern won 4-0 in the most recent DFB Cup encounter with Mainz in February 2023, with Jamal Musiala and Alphonso Davies both among the goals.
It’s the fourth time the record DFB Cup holders have been paired with Mainz in this competition, with the Bavarians advancing on all three previous occasions. The last was in the 2022/23 round of 16 with a comprehensive 4-0 win in Mainz. Bayern also lead on the overall head-to-head from 39 competitive meetings with 29 victories (D3, L7).
Ties on 29/30 October
The second round is scheduled to be played across Tuesday 29 and Wednesday 30 October. The exact dates and times will be released in due course by the DFB. The final will be played at Berlin’s Olympiastadion on Saturday, 24 May 2025.
