Lightning-fast opener & The Kane Show: Facts on Bayern’s 6-1 win in Kiel

Within seconds of Bayern and Holstein Kiel’s first meeting in the Bundesliga kicking off, the tone for the match was set. “We got off to a great start, took the early lead to make it 1-0 and then just added to it,” said captain Manuel Neuer. In the end, the scoreboard read 6-1 in favour of the Bavarians. fcbayern.com has the stats and facts on the match.

Musiala scores after just 15 seconds

Jamal Musiala celebrates his early goal in Kiel with Serge Gnabry.

Early cause for Bayern to celebrate. Jamal Musiala scored immediately after kick-off in Kiel.

Jamal Musiala got Bayern off to a dream start with the lead after just 15 seconds, making it the fastest away goal in Bayern's Bundesliga history. Only Giovane Élber (who scored within 11 seconds against Hamburg in 1998) and Lothar Matthäus (within 13 seconds against Borussia Mönchengladbach in 1986) have scored even quicker after kick-off whilst sporting a Bayern jersey – but both goals came at home in Munich.

Kane scores three in Kiel

Saturday evening's game in Kiel saw Harry Kane face the 18th different club in his Bundesliga career – and he’s scored against all 18. Only Miroslav Klose has faced more Bundesliga teams in the competition's history and scored against all of them (28). But the Englishman didn't want to stop at one goal, going on to score his fifth hat-trick in the Bundesliga and, thanks to a further assist, was involved in four of FCB's six goals. A Man of the Match display.

Harry Kane celebrated not one, not two, but three goals in Kiel.

Hat-trick! Harry Kane celebrated not one, not two, but three goals.

Kane has now scored a total of 40 goals in the Bundesliga, overtaking Jadon Sancho as the top English goalscorer in Germany's top flight. However, it's only taken him 35 games to put away 40 goals. That's a record by any nationality. The previous best for this achievement was held by none other than Uwe Seeler, who scored his 40th goal in 42 games. Kane will also soon be celebrating another milestone having now played 49 competitive matches for FC Bayern, in which he's scored 49 goals – now that’s impressive.

Kompany extends his perfect record

The 6-1 victory in Kiel meant Vincent Kompany maintained his perfect record in charge of Bayern with three wins from three in the Bundesliga. Niko Kovač was the last head coach to lead the German record champions to three wins in his first three league games back in 2018. In fact, the Croatian won his first four at the helm.

Further milestones in the squad

Further cause for celebration came from substitute Michael Olise, who scored to make it 5-0 in the second half, marking his first competitive goal for FCB in his fourth appearance. João Palhinha, on the other hand, made his first start in Munich colours and impressed from the get-go, having 103 touches, making just six misplaced passes (93% completion) and winning the most tackles for Bayern (33; 45% won). Keep up the good work!
