Musiala uses his head! The 21-year-old attacking midfielder has scored three times with his head in recent games an FC Bayern jersey and now he's done the same for the German national team. In the 2nd minute of the Nations League clash with Bosnia-Herzegovina on Saturday evening, he skilfully guided a fine cross from captain Joshua Kimmich into the far corner to tee up a 7-0 (3-0) goal-fest in front of a sold-out stadium in Freiburg. The resounding win means that head coach Julian Nagelsmann's side have already secured top spot in the group ahead of their final group match against Hungary on Tuesday (20:45 CET in Budapest).
Musiala: "I'm really proud of the header"
"I'm really proud of the header. I took it well," said Jamal Musiala, who recently scored with headers against Benfica, Bochum and Mainz and now demonstrated this quality in the national team colours. Tim Kleindienst (23‘) and Kai Havertz (37’) increased the hosts' lead before the break, injecting some buoyancy into Germany's attacking play. "It was fun. After a few goals, everyone is able play with more freedom. We still worked hard defensively, kept getting back and everything else became easier for us," added Musiala.
Exceptional goal from Sané
The artistic dribbler made way for his FCB teammate Leroy Sané in the 58th minute, and Serge Gnabry also came off the bench. Prior to that, Florian Wirtz had made sure of a win in the last home international of the year with a brace (50'/57'). Just a few minutes after coming on as a substitute, late call-up Sané also joined in the celebrations when he skilfully brought the ball down on the edge of the penalty area, skipped past his opponent at pace and smashed the ball home (66'). Nagelsmann also acknowledged that it was an exceptional goal: "His takedown was very, very good." In the final phase of the game, Kleindienst got the second of his brace to wrap up the game (79').
Germany currently lead Nations League Group 3 (League A) with 13 points ahead of the Netherlands in second place (eight points). This means that Kimmich and Co. are assured of the group win ahead of the final international of the year against Hungary.
FC Bayern's Arijon Ibrahimović and Mathys Tel were already in action for their national teams on Friday:
