FC Bayern has agreed contract extensions with youth players Lennart Karl (17) and Wisdom Mike (16). The two U17 internationals have been wearing Bayern colours since 2022. Karl made his debut for Vincent Kompany’s team in the 10-0 victory over Auckland City at the Club World Cup.

We want to continuously bring Lennart Karl and Wisdom Mike closer to the pro team, we want them to give it their all every day with our support. Besides Jamal Musiala, Aleks Pavlović and Josip Stanišić, we want more home-grown players in our first team. At the FC Bayern Campus, both have learned early on what this club means – we’re looking forward to their next steps.”
Sporting director Christoph Freund: “Lennart Karl and Wisdom Mike have been at the FC Bayern Campus for years, they’ve always been defining players of their teams. Lennart is bold, dangerous in front of goal, technically gifted with close ball control in one-on-one situations and very versatile in attack. Wisdom has good acceleration, he’s explosive and dynamic with a drive towards goal and has good finishing skills – a winger we at FC Bayern like to see. Both are still very young and have enormous potential. The future might belong to them.”
Lennart Karl, born in Frammersbach in Lower Franconia, took his first steps as a footballer at Eintracht Frankfurt and Viktoria Aschaffenburg before joining the FC Bayern Campus in the summer of 2022. After outstanding performances for the U17s, he made appearances for the U19s at the age of 16, including in the Youth League. He has scored 34 goals in 30 competitive appearances for the U19s and U17s. In the second half of last season, he was included in the pro squad five times and made his debut in the Club World Cup opener in Cincinnati. He has been wearing the Germany shirt since 2023 and scored seven goals in 13 matches for the Germany U17s.
Wisdom Mike started out at MSV Duisburg’s youth academy and joined the FC Bayern Campus via Borussia Mönchengladbach at the age of 13 in 2022. He has made appearances for the FC Bayern U19s, including in the Youth League. He was included in the pro squad for the Bundesliga once in the second half of last season before travelling to the U17 Euros with Germany. He has made four appearances for the Germany U17s, scoring one goal.
