What's next for Bayern in the Champions League

After the 2-1 win at PSV Eindhoven on Wednesday night, FC Bayern finished the league phase of the Champions League in second place. That means Vincent Kompany’s side go directly through to the round of 16 and will meet one of the play-off winners there. The last-16 ties will be played across 10/11 March and 17/18 March. Bayern’s strong placing in the league phase earns them home advantage in the second leg of each knockout round up to and including the semi-finals.

Bayern’s possible round of 16 opponents

Having finished second in the league phase, the Munich men will now play one of the teams in positions 15 to 18 in the final table. This means they’ll either meet the winners of Wednesday’s play-off tie (18:45 CET) – Atalanta vs. Borussia Dortmund (0-2) – or Bayer Leverkusen, who saw off Olympiacos in the play-offs. Bayern will find out their exact opponents in the draw on 27 February.
