Commanding Bayern outclass Heidenheim

FC Bayern beat Heidenheim 4-0 on Saturday to extend their lead in the Bundesliga overnight. Bayern were dominant throughout and took a comfortable three-goal lead through Harry Kane, Konrad Laimer and Kingsley Coman in the first half, with Joshua Kimmich rounding off the final scoreline after half-time.

Bayern lined up with Jonas Urbig in goal and Laimer, Eric Dier, Josip Stanišić and Raphaël Guerreiro in defence. Kimmich and Aleksandar Pavlović anchored a midfield featuring Michael Olise, Serge Gnabry and Coman, with Kane up front. Sacha Boey took over from Laimer at half-time, with Leroy Sané, Thomas Müller, Gabriel Vidović and João Palhinha replacing Coman, Kane, Olise and Guerreiro in the second half.

Three up at half-time

Bayern soon asserted their authority as Omar Traoré only just beat Coman to Laimer’s pass, but Kane’s powerful drive from 20 yards found the net via keeper Kevin Müller’s fingertips for an early lead. Guerreiro saw an effort saved before Gnabry’s forensic pass from inside his own half released the charging Laimer, who coolly doubled the advantage.

Kane missed the chance for a third when his stooping header went wide of an open goal from close range. The striker miscued another header and Müller denied Olise, but Bayern all but put the game to bed when Müller parried against Guerreiro and Coman slotted home from a tight angle. Kane fired wide again as Bayern were three up at half-time.

Kimmich rounds off result

It was more of the same after the restart and Guerreiro laid off for Kimmich to add gloss to the scoreline with his second goal of the season. Müller again denied Kane and Olise before Urbig was called into action when he made a strong save from Sirlord Conteh. Sané saw a shot saved as Bayern let the ball do the work and sealed a commanding victory.

The result means Bayern have 70 points from 30 matches, nine clear of Bayer Leverkusen, who take on St. Pauli on Sunday. The Bavarians will be back in action next Saturday when they entertain Mainz.
