Vincent Kompany: “As a coach you probably never feel that something’s perfect. It was a bit similar to the weekend against Schalke because we had to show a lot of patience. We could’ve scored one or two goals in the first half. We didn’t have a huge number of chances but we had enough good moments. Then we scored the goal at the right time in the second half and got momentum through that. The opponents had to apply a bit more pressure and we were able to exploit it.”

On Jamal Musiala: “I think I was just as happy as the people here in the stadium and probably many more in front of the television. We’ve known this moment would come but you can’t explain it beforehand – it just has to come together. And it was also a really important goal. It’s obviously great for Jamal. Now I hope the focus goes back on his performance. Everything else is part of his life, he knows how he has to deal with it, and he has our full support. Of course, it’s the performance that counts in the end. But I also want to work with good people and enjoy coming to work. We support Jamal when it’s difficult – like we do with every other player. When it comes to just Jamal’s performance, I don’t have any concerns in the long run. The goal and those 60 minutes were important for him. He’s getting into his rhythm more and more, which is another reason why it was a successful night for us.”

Harry Kane: “I’m very happy with the result. We had to remain patient, especially in the first half. I thought we were by far the better team and had some good chances. The goalkeeper made a few good saves. The message at half-time was therefore: keep going, stay patient and keep knocking at the door. The early goal after the break opened up the game. We’ve shown time and time again in recent years that we get stronger as the game goes on, which you saw again today. We’re just at the start of a long journey. Our first target is to finish as high as possible in the league phase. We wanted to put in a good performance in front of our fans in our first match at home and get the three points. Jamal Musiala: “I was really happy about the goal. I’m glad to be back in the rhythm now. I’ve had a lot of support from the club, the coaches and my team-mates. I want to enjoy tonight. I just want to get back to my best and feel physically good. The issue is nothing new for me. I want to gradually get that light feeling back on the pitch and reach my level. I know there’s still a way to go but the joy of being on the pitch with the team is the best feeling.”

Michael Olise: “Obviously it’s the first game, at home as well. We wanted to win and in the end we did win, so we’re happy.”

Kjetil Knutsen (coach): “Congratulations to Bayern. They’re a very good team with very strong individual players. I’m very satisfied with the first half. We executed our plan very well, defended well and had opportunities to counter. Unfortunately we lost our keeper due to injury. We then had problems in the second half and lost our way. That wasn’t good and I’m disappointed about that.”

Jens Petter Hauge: “It was very difficult, Bayern are an excellent team. We didn’t have the quality or the power to keep it up for 90 minutes today. We also have a very good team and lots of quality, we can play well against any opponents, but need to do better than we did today. Bayern are certainly one of the favourites for me, but obviously there are also teams like Paris Saint-Germain or Barcelona.”
