1970: Creation of a women’s football section
A milestone in women’s football at the club came in 1970 when a specific department for women’s football was created at FC Bayern and the German Football Association (DFB) lifted the previous ban on women’s football in the country. That was the start of a success story the Bayern way.

1976: Maiden domestic title
Bayern’s women were already among Germany’s top sides at the time. They reached the championship final in 1975 before going all the way the following year when crowned champions of Germany for the first time. They continued to impress but came up short in further finals in 1979, 1982 and 1985. Bayern also contested the final of the DFB Cup in 1988 and 1990.

2000-2012: Promotion back to the Bundesliga then DFB Cup success
Things became more up and down after that before coming to an end with promotion to the Bundesliga in 2000. The desire for further titles was finally quenched in 2012 as the club lifted the DFB Cup for the first time.

2015 & 2016: Back-to-back league titles
Bayern became domestic champions for the second time in their history in 2015 and defended their title in impressive fashion the following year, cementing their position at the top of German football. In both years, the Reds finished ahead of their rivals from Wolfsburg: while the difference in 2015 was just one point, it was a whopping 10 points hte following year.

2021: Back on top
Having been forced to settle for second place in 2017, 2018, 2019 and 2020, it was finally Bayern’s year again in 2021. The Munich girls finished the season with an impressive 20 wins from 22 matches and just one defeat. In Europe, FCB Women went as far as the semi-finals of the Champions League, where they were defeated by Chelsea.

2023: Fifth Bundesliga title
Without dropping a single point at home and with just two draws and one defeat overall, FC Bayern Women celebrated a fully deserved title at the end of the 2022/23 campaign. And they crowned it in style, thrashing Turbine Potsdam 11-1 on the final day – the highest Bundesliga win in the club’s history.

2024: Unbeaten on the way to second successive title
Bayern Women retained their crown in impressive fashion in the 2023/24 season, with 19 wins, three draws and no losses. They also set a new club record in the league game against Eintracht Frankfurt with an attendance of 19,000 for the first Women’s Bundesliga match at the Allianz Arena. They reached the final of the DFB Cup, losing out to Wolfsburg.

2025: First-ever double
After a perfect second half of the season, FC Bayern Women not only claimed their third successive league title, but also celebrated the club’s first double. With a 4-2 victory in the final against Werder Bremen, they won the DFB Cup for the first time since 2012. What’s more, there was success against Wolfsburg in the relaunched Supercup, held for the first time since 1997. And to top it all off, the Munich girls emerged victorious in the World Sevens Football seven-a-side tournament in Portugal, beating Manchester United in the final to crown the most successful season in the club’s history.
