My idol and what I’d ask them

Katrín Jónsdóttir. I’d like to ask her questions about her experiences with football, how she played and studied at the same time, how things have changed now and what life is like after football.

What I’d do if I hadn’t become a professional footballer

If I weren’t playing football, I’d like to have my own gym where I’d want to prepare young athletes for their sporting future.

Sports I like outside of football

I played handball until I was 15, so I love watching our national team play handball. I don't play anymore, but I regularly feel like I’d like to go to handball training. I also like to play street basketball outside with my friends. Golf is something I want to get better at, but I don't play it often enough.

My favourite place to travel

Iceland. Everyone should go to Iceland in the summer and rent a camper van and travel the whole country to see all the beautiful waterfalls, mountains, volcanoes, fjords, hot springs and peaceful nature. I can guarantee that the food in Iceland is some of the best you can get.

My favourite food

My parents’ Christmas dinner is my absolute favourite. It's mushroom soup with bread as a starter, marinated and melt-in-the-mouth steak with truffle butter, Icelandic Waldorf salad and broccoli salad on the side, and homemade ice cream with fruit for dessert. My favourite is a curry dish with tofu, halloumi and vegetable noodles.

My favourite book and why I’d recommend it

"The Subtle Art of Not Giving a F*ck". I really enjoyed it and I think everyone can learn something from it.

Strangest moment in football

Last year we were playing a European Championship qualifier in Slovakia in the evening when suddenly the power went out in the stadium in the middle of the game, so the stands, the changing rooms and the floodlights all went out at the same time. It was pitch black everywhere and we literally couldn't see anything.

First memory of Bayern

When we played FC Bayern in the quarter-finals of the Champions League with Rosengård.

How I calm back down after getting annoyed in a game

It helps me to go home and talk about the game with my boyfriend or watch the game again to put it behind me as quickly as possible.

Best football match

When Iceland beat England at Euro 2016. Amazing game.

My pre-match ritual

Not really. I like to eat porridge for breakfast and listen to some good songs before the game.
