FC Bayern Women make it five wins in a row with 6-0 victory at Nürnberg

FC Bayern Women claimed Bavarian derby spoils and a fifth straight win with a 6-0 victory away at promoted Nürnberg in the Google Pixel Bundesliga on Tuesday evening. José Barcala’s side went ahead early on at the Max-Morlock-Stadion through Linda Dallmann before Pernille Harder extended the advantage to three goals before half-time. Klara Bühl added a fourth around the hour mark, with Natalia Padilla Bidas making it five before a late own goal from Beatrix Fördős completed the half dozen.

There was even more good news as Barbara Dunst finally made her debut for the club following her cruciate ligament injury. The summer signing came on for Harder in the final 15 minutes.

Dallmann and Harder set early course

Bayern had their first chance after only four minutes when Nürnberg goalkeeper Larissa Rusek failed to clear a low cross. The ball eventually came to Dallmann, whose shot struck the crossbar. She made no mistake after nine minutes when Lea Schüller played in Bühl, who cut back for the 31-year-old to finish. It was 2-0 not long after when Bühl ran past Aleigh Gambone and squared for Harder to turn in. The hosts had their first opportunity when Nastassja Lein ran through at Mala Grohs, who made a comfortable stop. The Munich Frauen had a third before the break when Kathi Naschenweng’s delightful cross from the inside channel picked out the run of Harder to head in behind the Nürnberg back line.

Bühl & Padilla Bidas add to scoreline

Bayern kept going in the second period as Schüller had a header at a corner blocked from close range. Naschenweng soon had a go herself from range but fired not far wide. The champions finally got a fourth with an hour gone as Georgia Stanway’s pass into the box was allowed to run by Momoko Tanikawa for Bühl to run onto and finish. The fifth with 20 minutes to go came from substitute Padilla Bidas as she timed her run in behind onto Franziska Kett’s pass to net her first competitive goal for Bayern. Fördős’ own goal in the closing minutes completed the result, which takes the defending champions on to 25 points from nine games.

Union and Arsenal at home

The Bundesliga champions are back in action again on Friday when they host another promoted side in Union Berlin at the FC Bayern Campus for Matchday 10 (18:30 CET). The following Tuesday it’s Champions League holders Arsenal who come to Munich, this time the Allianz Arena, for the third game of the league phase at 18:45 CET (tickets available here).
